Fall Colors

Hey everybody! Jesse and I went to the cabin last weekend and shot some great pictures of the pretty fall leaves. If you want to look at all the pics you can go to http://picasaweb.google.com/jlmontie. Just an update on us, we are doing good. We both started school last month so that's taking up a lot of our time. We are going to go visit Grandma & Grandpa Johnson the first of Nov. Jesse has a conference there so I thought it would be a great time to make a trip there. I will try to post more stuff when I figure out how to use this darn thing!! Love from the Montgomery's! xoxoxo

These pictures are a little old but I thought you would enjoy them. Jacks face makes me laugh every time I see it.

Labor Day at the Cabin

We went up to the cabin Friday, Labor Day weekend and spent the night. I wanted to scrapbook my photos and then post, but it might never happen, so...here they are...someday maybe we'll get them edited and in a layout. :-)

Sophie and I slept out on the couch. Actually, she slept in her carseat most of the night. She woke up a couple of times. The last time she woke up (probably around 4 or 5 am), her little hand was just freezing! Somehow it had wiggled out of the covers. So, I snuggled her in next to me. She is such a sweet little baby!!!!
My photos got out of order when I uploaded them, so first we have Saturday pics and then Friday night ones. Anyway, we had my very VERY favorite thing for breakfast. Waffles made by Grandpa Max. I don't know what his secret is (and all he will tell me is that it is in the 'whisking'), but they are the absolute best waffles in the whole world! We had fresh strawberries and whipped cream on them.
Shortly after breakfast, we spotted a whole flock of wild turkeys wandering through. Actually Eliza saw them first and said "Look mom-chickens!" I counted about 17 of them!

Some other 'fun' friendly critters at the cabin are grasshoppers. Luke and Cassie love to catch them. Luke caught this HUGE guy right by the cabin door. (Personally they are not my favorite kind of bug-right after spiders, but the kids aren't afraid...)
As always, one of the hightlights of time at the cabin is tubing on the river. This time we all got to go together. (Except for Sophie of course). What fun! we love the river!

This is the GIANT bonfire that Grandpa Max built with ONE match. Absolutely no bear juice involved-promise-I watched him light it. :-)

Eliza's favorite thing to do around the campfire was to go from log to log around the circle and do 'balance beam.' She got pretty good and didn't need much help. Hmmm..somebody's been watching too much olympics.
At the camp across the river, there were some late comers exploring around with their flashlights in the dark. So, Grandpa goes in and gets out his "flashlight." Well, his is one of those billion candle watt ones. So, he shines it over there on them and they all turned off their lights and were quiet. I think Grandpa got as much of a kick out of it as the kids did. :-)

These are just photos of the kids getting snuggled up and ready to go to bed. I think by morning they all ended up in bed with Jake (except for Liza). It was pretty cold that night!
I remember thinking as we headed home Saturday evening-"Good-by cabin, Good-bye summer." It turned out that Grandma and Grandpa headed back for Texas that next week, so, it will be next summer before we can spend the night with them at the cabin again. The only regrets I secretly have is that we didn't get any of Grandpa's fabulous famous BBQ ribs! We missed out this year!!! Cassie even asked me about them when I told her G&G had gone home. She said, "But what about his ribs?" I was confused until I realized she was talking about this tasty BBQ ribs. Yep, Grandpa, you're famous around here for ribs and waffles! We Love YOU!
